One More Minute of Fame

Sometime around 2006, I worked as a movie extra in Vancouver. I love films (and have begun to make them!) and loved seeing the behind the scenes work. I had (extremely!!!) small roles (hah hah!) in Smallville, Catwoman, X-Men 3, and I, Robot.

Today, a movie I am in was released: The Butterfly on a Wheel. Or The Butterfly. Or Shattered... Depending in which country it was released. It was also released straight to DVD, which says something about it's quality. It stars Pierce Brosnan (James Bond himself) and Gerard Butler (300, Phantom of the Opera).


I saw it and found myself. These stills from the film tell the whole story:

Gerard Butler is searching for a hotel room key without being seen.
Suddenly, a young gorgeous couple exit their hotel room and walk past him.

...but I SEE HIM!!!

There you go! Another minute to add to my 15 minutes of Fame. That leaves only one film left that I am in that hasn't been released yet - 88 Minutes with Al Pacino...

BLUEBELL WOODS - a new film by Bond

Ladies and Gentlemen!

I have finished the final cut of BLUEBELL WOODS, my hour-long action/drama cop/killer film set in Birmingham, England! After a month of writing, a month of filming, and over three months and countless hours of editing, Albany Road Studios' second official film is ready to be released to the world!

The Trailer for Bluebell Woods - My New Film!

Confession time...

Some of you may know that I consider myself somewhat of an amateur filmmaker. All through my life, I've been dabbling in the motion picture arts - stop motion dinosaurs, high school book reports, crazy comedy skits, and epic sci-fi movies. And now action films.

While in England, I formed a production company called Albany Road Studios, under which I have made two films - the second I am about to release!

The time has come to announce the completion of my new film, Bluebell Woods. It is an action/drama cop/killer film with plenty of strong language and violence.

The final completed film is coming soon. Within a week or so, I'll 'release' (through YouTube) Bluebell Woods. I love writing, filming, and editing films! (Check out the Albany Road Studios blog here for my first film - Tony's Empire!)

Change all around...

Man, everywhere I look I see change.

Robotic change in Transformers:

It opened in USA and New Zealand, and everyone and every review I have read yet has praised it beyond every other movie... BUT it does not open here until July 27st. Ugh, I have to wait 17 more days...

Work change in teaching:

School ends in 10 days. 10 more days (actually only 8 WORK days) of hour-long commutes. 10 more days of whining, bickering, tattle-tailing kids. 10 more days of ungrateful, uncaring parents. But that also means only 8 days of pay...

Creating change in film making:

The untitled sequel to Tony's Empire has begun filming. So far, we have filmed the Funeral, the MP Speech, the Secret Meeting, and the MP/Assistant Chat scenes. I am pleased by the footage so far! Momentum has been engaged, but needs to continue. The film is more ambitious than the last (car chases, fighting in a lake, police shootout, bordello raid...), but with the experience gained shooting Tony's Empire, we can do it!

Musical change in karaoke birthday party:

On July 20th, Lewis is having a karaoke party at O'neills. The twist is that you have to come as a famous musician and sing a song by the artist! I will be going as Bono. Black jeans, shirt and jacket, sunglasses, earrings, and wig! Cher and Gwen Stefani will also be in attendance...

Geographical change in location:

I finally bought my flight back home to Vancouver. I will be leaving from London on September 10th, after a three-week trip with Greg around Portugal, Spain and London. But I will not be flying to Vancouver directly, I will be stopping over for five days in New York City! After sightseeing and living in the AMNH for the week, I will arrive back in Vancouver on the 15th, ending my 2006-2007 England Adventure...

Tony's Empire: Harborne Hitmen is a 23 minute shortish action/comedy/gangster no-budget film, staring my roommates and myself "acting" as mafioso gangsters and hitmen. Shot entirely on location in Birmingham, England, the movie tells the dark tale of a group of mob friends that suspect one of them is an undercover cop. But which one? I play the gang's boss - Tony - who deals with the dirty rat.

WARNING: The film is rated R due to constant strong language (swearing) and scenes of violence and torture (with a knife!) Viewer discretion is advised...

This is the first official film I have ever solely directed and edited and I am quite proud of it! Please let me know what you think! Tell me your favorite part and which part could be better!

Liquid Nitrogen can be fun!

I am very excited about this post, as I have created another short film called "Mr. Bond's Adventures with Liquid Nitrogen!"

Our story begins during my trip to Munich for New Years. I was staying with Nathalie and Toby for a night to see their beautiful new baby boy, Elias. I was delighted to see that Nathalie's parents and her sister Stephanie (check out her blog on the right) were staying there too. The surprise was that my good friend Dave was there too! And with Marianne in Munich, it really was a "small world after all" for New Years!

What does this have to do with liquid nitrogen, you might ask? Well, it so happened that Nat and Toby wanted to make ice cream for desert that night. Ice cream usually takes hours to make with huge industrial freezers - we had neither time nor freezers. We did have a plan though: Toby works in a physics laboratory which has many chemicals at hand. Ice cream can also be made by mixing the ingredients with liquid nitrogen! With nitrogen boiling at - 200 degrees Celcius, it was certainly cold enough to make ice cream...but why stop there?

After the ice cream was made, we still had quite a bit of the chemical left, so we thought we would do some experiments! What happens to leeks, pennies, and twigs when they are put in liquid nitrogen for a while? They freeze and shatter! Well...the penny didn't...it just got cold. We saved the best for last - but you will need to watch the film to find out!

The film takes you on a rollercoaster adventure through Munich, as Toby, Dave, and I collect, bring back, and experiment on liquid nitrogen!



My favortite part of the adventure was where Dave had to sit in the backseat of the car with the cylinder of liquid nitrogen between his legs! Good thing we didn't spill, or there might never have been any little Daves in the future!

Cat Bodyguards

On the heals of "Bad Sushi" comes "Cat Bodyguards," an even less serious short film created by Prehistoric Insanity Productions in 2004. This film was shot and edited in under an hour in the mansion where we lived in Drumheller.

The Peter Bond Travels Films - Part 2

So after arriving in Munich, my friends Randi and Remi stayed at Marianne's with me. It was very fun to explore the city with them (after all, each of us we tour guides and worked at the Vancouver Lookout). Munich is a very nice city that I could see myself one day living in (the only problem is that I would need to learn german. It helps to know german is Germany!) At the end of our city tour, we went to the Haufbraugh House for a beer. Now beers in Germany are great and come in sizes much larger than those at home. The shops sell half-litters, but the beergartens sell full litter beers called Masses. Here is me with a mass:

The next day, we all pilled into the S-Ban and took a train to Neuschwanstein Castle.

Walt Disney visited this castle and was so inspired that he used it as the basis for the "Disney Castle" from Sleeping Beauty and Disney's Logo, and he also designed the castle in Disneyland after Neuschwanstein.

Not only did he use the design of the castle, he used the high admission price, the switchback line-up style, the immaculately clean site, the gift shop, and, most importantly, the idea that the tour ends in the giftshop. Neuschwanstein had them first! I did not see any mice though...



That night we wached The Sound of Music in preparation for the next day's travels. We boarded the train to Salzburg, Austria! And then were promptly kicked off, as we apparently had not payed enough to ride the fast train. So we took the slow train, arriving with plenty of time to wander through Salzburg and say hello to Mozart (who was born here and turns 250 this year! Congrats Mozart, happy birthday!)

We toured the castle, and got a fantastic view of the city.

On the 2 hour train back to Munich, I got bored and began experimenting with my new camera. I discovered a way to create ghostly photos to haunt the train. It became a wonderfully fun way to spend the time!

The Peter Bond Travels Films - Part 1

Here is the first in a series of films detailing my travels through England and Europe. I hope you enjoy it.




My trip began with the Vancouver airport, as they tend to do, with a flight to London Gatwick with Zoom Airlines. I brought with me two suitcases and a backpack, containing everything I will need to live for the next year. Laptop, camera, clothes, suits, shoes, etc. Unfortunately, Zoom only allows 20 kg check-in baggage in two bags together, so needless to say I ended up being overweight. Instead of sending me packing (or re-packing, wink wink!), the check-in lady offers that I can pay $50 for the extra weight. I smile and accept, as I have a flight waiting to take me overseas for my year-long adventure into the English Life.

After having a relaxing snack with my good friends Warren and Leah (who randomly happend to also be at the airport seeing off Leah's Mom on a stop-over), I ventured through check-in which does not allow anyone to bring liquids past. After chugging down the last of my water, I slipped through the pat-down and proceded to my gate, D66. The flight itself proceded as it does in the film, although we did get 4 movies on the flight. I unfortunately watched that movie where Lindsey Lohan gets her luck switched with some guy when they kiss...ugh. I can't believe I just wrote that. It didn't get much better with Robin William's filmed-in-BC slosh RV. After, in case anyone was still alive...I mean awake, they played two more movies I can't remember the names of, due to the fact that I was asleep.

I arrived in London and was picked up by my friend Duncan (see film). We drove from Gatwick to Stansted airport direct on the M25, where we encountered a freak rain storm causing the speed limit and the visibility to drop. Upon a safe arrival to Stansted, we realized we had a few hours to kill. So we went to the pub! (Where else?) After a good pint of Guiness, I left Duncan and got in the check-in line-up for easyJet Airline. Interestingly, and unfortunately for me, easyJet has a "stricter" size restriction for their carry-on baggage, i.e. mine didn't fit. Thus I had to check my carry-on (I left the rest of my luggage with Duncan - Thanks, Dunk!) and carry-on my fragile laptop and camera. Picture a man carrying a laptop going through the metal detector and having to take off his belt after another quick but surprisingly thourough pat-down. That was me! I love airports...

So onwards onto another plane, but this time I got the rare experience of walking onto the plane from the tarmac (tarmack?). This plane was going to Munich, Germany where I was going to stay with friends and experience Oktoberfest. The guy I was stuffed into beside was from Edmonton, so we talked hockey for the hour and a half. After, we shoke hands and he tells me the reason he wears gloves was to cover very bad exeema. My friend Marianne (see film) met me at the Munich Airport and, after walking the entire length and breadth of the airport, we drove back to her family's house, where we had another beer. Two beers on two hours sleep and 25 hours awake killed me and I crashed.

Soon we would be joined by more friends and we would partake in the Traditional German Drinking Experience, a.k.a Oktoberfest.... Stay tuned.

But that is a story for another blog entry.
